Benzhexol 5mg Tablets is an anticholinergic medication (also known as trihexyphenidyl) used to manage symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and drug-induced movement disorders.
Who is it for
This medication is for patients with Parkinson’s disease experiencing tremors, muscle stiffness, and spasms, as well as patients experiencing extrapyramidal side effects from certain psychiatric medications. It is often used alongside other Parkinson’s medications such as levodopa.
Dosage
The typical maintenance dose ranges from 5-15 mg daily, divided into 2-3 doses. Treatment usually starts with 1 mg daily and is gradually increased. For elderly patients, doses should not exceed 10 mg daily. Tablets can be taken before or after meals.
