Angizaar‑50 Tablet contains 50 mg of losartan potassium, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes and widens blood vessels, lowering blood pressure. It is used to treat high blood pressure, to reduce the risk of stroke in people with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy, to protect the kidneys in patients with type 2 diabetes and protein in their urine, and to manage heart failure when used with other medicines.
Who is it for
Angizaar‑50 Tablet is intended for adults with high blood pressure or diabetic kidney disease. It may also be used in combination with other medications to manage heart failure. It is not usually recommended for children under 6 years unless prescribed. People with liver or kidney problems, dehydration, low salt levels, heart valve disorders, or high potassium should use this medicine only under medical supervision. Do not take losartan if you are pregnant; stop immediately and speak to your doctor if you become pregnant. Breastfeeding women should consult a healthcare professional before taking this medicine.
Dosage
For high blood pressure, the usual starting dose of losartan is 50 mg once daily. Depending on your response, your doctor may adjust the dose between 25 mg and 100 mg once daily. To protect the kidneys in people with type 2 diabetes, the dose is 50 mg once daily and may be increased to 100 mg once daily. For heart failure, treatment may start at 12.5 mg daily and be gradually increased under medical supervision up to 150 mg daily. People taking diuretics or with liver problems may start at 25 mg once daily. Always take this medication exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you, and do not change the dose without medical advice.
