Amoxicillin 500 mg Capsule is a broad‑spectrum penicillin antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and some sexually transmitted infections. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis.
Who is it for
This capsule is intended for adults and children with moderate to severe infections requiring a higher dose of amoxicillin. Do not take it if you are allergic to penicillins or cephalosporins. Patients with kidney impairment may need dose adjustments. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Dosage
The usual adult dose for moderate infections is 500 mg every 8 hours. For more serious infections, the dose may be 500–875 mg every 12 hours as prescribed. Children’s dosing is based on body weight (20–40 mg/kg/day divided into three doses). Always complete the full course of treatment even if symptoms improve.
