Amiodar 200 mg Tablet contains amiodarone, an antiarrhythmic medication used to treat and prevent serious irregular heart rhythms such as atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter and life‑threatening ventricular arrhythmias. It works by stabilising the heart’s electrical activity to maintain a normal rhythm.
Who is it for
This medicine is prescribed for adults with documented arrhythmias that have not responded to other treatments. It should be used under close medical supervision. Do not use if you have severe sinus node dysfunction, second- or third‑degree atrioventricular block, severe thyroid disease or iodine sensitivity. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid this medication unless directed by a doctor.
Dosage
The usual loading dose is 200 mg three times daily for one week, then 200 mg twice daily for a week, followed by a maintenance dose of 200 mg once daily or as prescribed. Dosage may vary depending on your heart rhythm and response to treatment. Take the tablets with food at the same time each day.
