Amatem Forte Softgel (artemether/lumefantrine) 80 mg/480 mg is an oral antimalarial medicine used for the treatment of uncomplicated malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum. The combination of artemether and lumefantrine works by rapidly killing malaria parasites and preventing their reproduction.
Who is it for
This medication is intended for adults and children weighing 35 kg or more who have been diagnosed with uncomplicated malaria. It is not used to prevent malaria or treat severe malaria. People with known allergies to artemether or lumefantrine, heart rhythm disorders or severe liver or kidney disease should avoid use. Pregnant women in the first trimester and children under 5 kg should only use this medicine under strict medical supervision.
Dosage
The usual regimen for adults and children over 35 kg is four softgel capsules as an initial dose, another four capsules eight hours later, then four capsules twice daily (morning and evening) for the next two days. Always take each dose with a meal rich in fat, milk or yogurt to improve absorption. Do not exceed the prescribed dose and complete the full course even if symptoms improve.
