Altadon‑1mg Tablet contains risperidone, an atypical antipsychotic medicine. It works by changing the activity of certain chemicals in the brain and is used to treat schizophrenia and moderate to severe manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder. It may also be prescribed for short‑term control of persistent aggression in patients with Alzheimer’s dementia or conduct disorder in children and adolescents.

Who is it for
This medicine is prescribed to adults and adolescents with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder and to people with persistent aggression due to dementia or conduct disorder under specialist supervision. It is not approved for dementia‑related psychosis and should not be used in children younger than 5 years. Patients with liver or kidney problems, the elderly, and those who are pregnant or breastfeeding should only use it after consulting a healthcare professional.

Dosage
For schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, the typical starting dose is 1 mg to 2 mg per day, either taken once or divided into two doses, and it may be increased gradually to around 4 mg per day depending on response. In elderly patients, lower initial doses (about 0.5 mg twice daily) are recommended. For persistent aggression associated with dementia, doses start at 0.25 mg twice daily and are adjusted carefully. For conduct disorder in children, doses start at 0.25–0.5 mg once daily and are adjusted based on body weight. Always follow your doctor’s instructions as the pharmacist may adjust the dose.
